JARDIN FENG SHUI
3-day workshop with the Brutpop collective as part of the 2nd year DSAA dcn. The theme of the workshop was "hijacking of the Feng Shui movement in the digital world ".
The installation is an adaptation of a Zen garden, in which the electrical resistance of plants modulates sound frequencies in an autonomous and noisy performance.
The installation works in a circular principle, a fan turns according to the surrounding sound intensity, the wind of which makes the leaves of the plant move, which in turn creates mass variations and distorts an amplification circuit attached to the structure.
A PureData patch turns on and off a lamp which is picked up by a photovoltaic cell which in turn modulates the resistance of the sound circuit in parallel.
The installation seeks to create a form of comfort in noise. Instead of isolating through silence, we are invited to immerse ourselves in a cushion of static noise that evolves according to the surrounding bodies and movements.
